Look, I’m not much for endorsements (blatant lie), but a new box of these just arrived in the post and I felt like sharing. This is also to stake my position in the berry wars amongst a certain group of Tumblrs (jakke, htkda, etc.): Huckleberries or GTFO.
In case you’ve never had huckleberries before, they’re like a cross between blueberries and blackberries, and only grow in the mountainous wilderness of the Pacific Northwest/British Columbia. On the left is a jar of preserves made from fresh berries picked in the Flathead Valley of Montana, adjacent to Glacier National Park. Personally, I put them on peanut butter sandwiches, or as a light dessert topping. You can see the texture and small berries in the second photo, apologies for the lighting issues. The second jar is of cherry preserves from cherries grown on the shore of Flathead Lake, near Bigfork, Montana. They’re the best cherries in the entire world. Period. It’s the microclimate that makes the difference.
Anyway, if you want to order some online: evagates.com. Word of warning, it takes 10 “business" days to be delivered to most places in the U.S. because they use USPS and not something civilized like FedEx. Still, worth the wait.
